Structure

The Berliner Antike-Kolleg has four central bodies: the Council, the Directorate, the Executive Board and the Advisory Board.

Council

The Council is made up of the presidents of the six founding institutions of the BAK. It takes decisions on the planning of the BAK’s activities. The Executive Board and the Directorate are accountable to the Council of the BAK, and hence to the founding institutions.

Directorate

The BAK is led by a Directorate made up of representatives from its six founding institutions. The Directorate takes decisions in matters concerning the fundamental questions relating to the research orientation of the BAK.

Executive Board

The Executive Board is elected from the membership of the Directorate. It draws together the interests and potentials of the institutions that participate in the BAK and employs these to further the BAK’s systematic development. It also represents the BAK within the academic community and vis-à-vis the general public.

Advisory Board

The international membership of the Advisory Board offers assistance to the Directorate and the Executive Board in all scholarly or strategic matters. It also examines and evaluates the BAK’s activities and cooperation among the participating institutions.
