Vom Werden und Vergehen. Eine feinstratigrafische Architekturgeschichte Kilikiens am Beispiel des Sirkeli Höyük

My PhD project aims to comprehend a comprehensive and detailed architectural history of Cilicia from the 3rd to the 1st millennium BC. Despite many research projects in the region, there is a research gap in the field of architectural history due to the lack of synoptic analyses. In order to investigate the architectural history of Cilicia, an innovative building typology will be established. This typology will be based on fine-stratigraphic formation processes. The starting point of the research are the architectural remains and findings of the settlement on the Sirkeli Höyük in Turkey, which has been investigated since 2011 by the University of Bern under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mirko Novák. I have been part of the excavation team since 2015. The excavations are based on fine-stratigraphic observations of deposits under, in and above architectural features, which allow a detailed analysis of the formation processes.
