Landscape survey in cross-check. Comparing surface collections, excavation and geophysical data at Oymaağaç Höyük/Nerik (Turkey)
This research evaluates the potential and the reliability of the survey as a non-invasive strategy of investigation while examining different approaches to landscape archaeology. Starting from the case study of Oymaağaç Höyük (Turkey), the survey results will first be cross-checked through GIS on site level against the broad dataset from the long-term interdisciplinary research undertaken at the site. Furthermore, spatial analysis will be conducted on a landscape-related level, suggesting new interpretations about the archaeological landscape of the Central Black Sea Region from the Late Chalcolithic to the Iron Age.
