The BerGSAS will use the funding to strengthen the area of digital humanities within the training of doctoral students in cooperation with the non-university partner institutions Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the German Archaeological Institute. The focus will be on digital research methods and tools, research data management and digital publishing.

In addition, three doctoral scholarships are tied to the award.
